

Portland Pottery is both a community based clay studio and a ceramic supply store. Portland Pottery offers pottery, jewelry making, sculpture and a wide assortment of classes and workshops to artists of all ages, ability levels and backgrounds. The clay studio features a spacious area organized for wheel throwing, hand building, kiln firing, jewelry making, metal casting and studio rental. Color, Image, and Surface Design w/ Megan Walsh May 19th • 1-5pm • $60 This workshop will focus on different surface design techniques and image solutions. We will look at color and image options, covering exciting ways of creating pattern and texture at different stages in the making process, both before and after firing. Participants will experiment with several methods to create interesting surfaces on wet clay; including incised design, shellac resist, screen printing, and slip and under glaze layering. The workshop will also demonstrate post glaze fire techniques such as decals and lusters. Participants are encouraged to bring green ware and finished glaze ware to experiment with during the workshop.Megan Walsh studied ceramics at Alfred University, she works out of her studio in Bayside and teaches classes at Portland Pottery. |
