Kid’s classes

WHEELTHROWING & HAND BUILDING
Ages 7 and older
Working on the potter’s wheel, students learn to center clay, throw pots in various forms, and decorate and glaze their pieces. Handbuilding techniques will also be explored. Our experienced teachers will explain all steps of the clay process and encourage individual creativity at all ability levels. Eight-week sessions allow lots of time for producing work, and the last day is Glaze Day.

METALSMITHING
Ages 8 and older
This class offers young people the opportunity to work with different metals and beads to create jewelry or small sculptures. Different cold connection techniques as well as soldering will be taught. Students will leave this class familiar with the
metalsmithing studio and bring home their unique creations.

Kid's Classes

Kid's Classes at Portland Pottery usually run in 6-8 week sessions. They meet once a week and are 1 1/2 hours long. We accept kids from the ages of 6-16.
